Horace B. Carver, Q.C.

 

Horace Carver, Q.C. is a lawyer living and practicing law in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

 

Horace’s practice areas include real property matters and real estate transactions, wills, estates, and probate matters. Horace has extensive experience in drafting agreements, estate documents, and real property documents. He is often retained to deal with land matters involving the Prince Edward Island Lands Protection Act.

 

Horace studied at Dalhousie University in Halifax where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1970 and a law degree in 1973. Following university, he returned to Charlottetown where he has practiced law since 1973. On January 24, 1980, Horace received his Queen’s Counsel designation. Horace served three terms in the Prince Edward Island Legislature with roles including: Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, Minister of Community Affairs, and Government House Leader. He was a Prince Edward Island representative at the Federal/Provincial Constitutional Conferences in the early 1980s. As a P.E.I. Cabinet Minister, Horace was the person who sponsored the P.E.I. Lands Protection Act through the P.E.I. Legislature in 1982.

 

Horace is a member of the Law Society of Prince Edward Island and is active in his community, having served as a past Chair of both the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation and the Prince Edward Island Rural Beautification Society and Vice-Chair of P.E.I. Heritage and Museum Association.

 

In November 2012, Horace was appointed by the Provincial Cabinet to conduct a public review of the P.E.I. Lands Protection Act, as a Commissioner under the Public Inquiries Act of P.E.I. His report, “The Gift of Jurisdiction: Our Island Province” has become recognized as an important document involving land in P.E.I. He has appeared before several Legislative Committees to discuss land and constitutional issues.

Michael J. Carver

 

Michael J. Carver is a lawyer living and practicing law in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

 

Michael delivers his clients strategic guidance and sound advice for successful outcomes.

 

He has experience guiding executors and personal representatives through the probate and estate administration process, representing residential and commercial vendors and purchasers in real property transactions. Michael has experience in drafting agreements, estate documents, and real Property documents. Michael has appeared at the Supreme Court and Provincial Court of Prince Edward Island on various matters. As well has appeared before the Island Regulatory & Appeals Commission.

 

Michael obtained his Bachelor of Law at University of New Brunswick, Bachelor of Education at UNB and Bachelor of Arts at UPEI. Before entering the practice of law, Michael was a high school law and history teacher as well as high school varsity basketball coach.

 

East Coast Music Award nominated and Music PEI award winner, Michael, has extensive involvement in the Prince Edward Island community as both a musician having performed music throughout Canada, Australia and in London England, as well as a music industry professional in music contract negotiations and event production with Music PEI and ECMAs. Michael gained invaluable experience booking and promoting concerts and tours across Canada.

 

Michael has led workshops at music industry conferences on the topic of Entertainment Law, Music Contract Drafting, Music Marketing: Best Practices, having presented at music industry conferences throughout Canada, and in London, England.
